Allowing only USC students to join USC Zoom classes
As defined by ITS, "Zoombombing" is:
a new form of trolling in which a participant uses Zoom’s screensharing feature to interrupt and disrupt meetings and classes
To address this issue, as of March 25, 2020, ITS has updated Zoom meeting configurations so that Enable waiting room is selected for all USC Zoom meetings (including classes) that you create and host.
How does this affect your Zoom meeting's functionality?
- Attendees logged into their USC Zoom account: Can join your Zoom meeting directly
- All other attendees: Are placed in the waiting room when they attempt to join your Zoom meeting
As the meeting host, within the Zoom meeting you can manually Admit to let in non-USC attendees from the waiting room (for instance, auditors without a USC account or guest lecturers from outside USC).
