Dornsife-managed computers upgrading to SentinelOne
USC is adopting SentinelOne as its approved antivirus software. SentinelOne provides a more modern platform and superior protection to Sophos, USC’s previous choice of antivirus software. Access to Sophos ends on June 15, 2021.
We will be automatically upgrading all Dornsife Mac and Windows systems from Sophos to SentinelOne beginning over the winter recess period and continuing through the spring semester in 2021. If your computer has not yet upgraded to SentinelOne, it is already on the schedule and no further action is required on your part.
Once your computer successfully receives the upgrade, the SentinelOne icon will replace the Sophos icon on your computer. This looks like the following:
SentinelOne on Mac
SentinelOne on Windows PC
Note for Mac users: if your computer has not yet been upgraded and still has Sophos, due to compatibility issues you will not be able to install Big Sur (Apple's newest MacOS). Once your computer is upgraded to SentinelOne, you will be free to install Big Sur to your computer.
We encourage you to contact us well in advance of June 15, 2021 if you have any questions about this transition or if you notice any issues with SentinelOne on your computer. You can submit a ticket to our Help Desk or start a chat with us (red droplet-shaped icon in the bottom right corner of this page).
A note about personal devices
If you previously downloaded Sophos Home to your personal devices from the ITS software page, you can continue to use Sophos Home on your personal devices until June 15, 2021.
ITS now also offers SentinelOne usage for personal devices. You can download and install SentinelOne on up to five personal devices (please do not install this version of SentinelOne on your Dornsife-managed computer):
- First, if you already have Sophos Home installed on your personal device, you'll need to uninstall it:
- Now, you can proceed to install SentinelOne on your personal device:
