Overview
Dornsife-managed Zoom Rooms can be configured with the ability to join third-party (non-Zoom) meetings. To enable this feature, please email your request to ts@dornsife.usc.edu with the following information:
- The Zoom Room's building and room number
- The name you want the Zoom Room to display when joining a Teams meeting
Here we provide instructions for joining a Teams meeting from a Zoom Room once the feature is enabled.
Inviting a Zoom Room to a Teams meeting
There are two ways to invite a Zoom Room to a Teams meeting:
- Option 1: The Teams meeting organizer can directly invite the Zoom Room by adding it as an attendee when scheduling the Teams meeting.
- Option 2: You can forward the Teams meeting information from your own Outlook calendar to the Zoom Room's Outlook calendar (or to your department's senior administrator, depending on your department's procedures).
Each Zoom Room has its own USC email address (@resources.usc.edu) which you can look up in the Outlook calendar directory.
Make sure that the Zoom Room's Outlook calendar accepts the invitation. Once accepted, the meeting will appear on the Zoom Room's Outlook calendar with the "Show as" status set to Busy (rather than Tentative).
Joining a Teams meeting from a Basic Zoom Room
Having a Zoom Room join a Teams meeting will require specific steps on both the Zoom Room's part as well as the Teams meeting organizer's part:
