Overview
If you are connecting your computer using a cable or adapter to a second display such as an external monitor or a Zoom Room, you can set the second display's mode to either Mirror/Duplicate or to Extended. Below, we provide instructions for switching from Mirror/Duplicate (default) to Extended mode, but you can also use these instructions to switch in the other direction.
Before you begin
You will need a physical cable or adapter to connect your computer to the external monitor or Zoom Room.

Troubleshooting
External monitor not detecting your computer
If you are using an external monitor, you may need to use the buttons on the monitor, typically located near the power button along the bottom or right edge. It may be the case, for instance, that you are using a DP cable but the monitor's input is set to HDMI or miniDP.
You can also try unplugging the monitor and turning it off, and then plugging it back into your computer and turning the monitor on.
Zoom Room not detecting your computer
If you are using a Belkin multiport adapter and the Zoom Room doesn't detect your computer after 5 seconds, press and hold the reset button on the side of the adapter until the screenshare begins.
If nothing displays on the Zoom Room screen, and the screen itself appears to be dark or off, make sure that the Zoom Room is on:
- If the Zoom Room has an iPad controller: Tap Room Controls on the controller and then use the options to wake up or turn on the monitor, projector, or screen.
- If the Zoom Room does not have an iPad controller: It is a touchscreen. Tap anywhere on the touchscreen to wake the screen.
