Overview
This guide reviews your options for checking voicemail for a desk phone:
- Common area (shared) phone: If voicemail is enabled, it can only be checked on the physical phone, not online or through the Zoom app. To enable voicemail for a common area phone, email ts@dornsife.usc.edu.
- Individual desk phone: You can check voicemail either on the phone itself, online, or in the Zoom app.
Checking voicemail using the phone
- Connect to the Message Center using the phone keys:
- VVX series with physical line keys: Press Messages on the home screen or the voicemail button.
- VVX series with a touch screen: Tap the mail icon on the home screen.
- Alternatively, you can dial and call *86 to access your voicemail.
- Press or tap Connect.

When prompted, enter your voicemail PIN followed by the # button.

You can perform the following actions:
Press 1 to play all voicemail messages, starting with new (unplayed) messages.
Press 2 to record a voicemail greeting.
Checking voicemail online or in the Zoom app
You can also check voicemail for individual desk phones either online or in the Zoom app:
- Online: Sign in to https://usc.zoom.us. Select Phones in the left menu, and click the Voicemail tab.
- Zoom app: Sign in. Select the Phone tab at the top, then select Voicemail.
Obtaining the voicemail PIN
PIN for common area phones
These PINs are set by ITS. For assistance, contact ts@dornsife.usc.edu and DTS will coordinate with ITS on your behalf.
PIN for individual desk phones
Quick guide
- Go to https://usc.zoom.us and sign in.
- In the left menu, click Phone. Make sure the Settings tab is selected.
- Scroll down to the "Desk Phone" section. Next to "PIN Code," click Show or Edit.
