Overview
Zoom has multiple AI-powered features, collectively referred to as Zoom AI Companion, which you can use during your Zoom meetings.
Precautions to keep in mind
As with any AI-powered tool, be sure to exercise caution, judgment, and responsibility when using Zoom AI Companion. Keep in mind these guidelines:
- Avoid using AI Companion for meetings in which privileged, sensitive, or private topics are discussed
- Be aware that AI-generated outputs may not be accurate: always review, edit, and verify the results before using them for any purpose

AI Companion: Meeting summary
To turn on the meeting summary feature during a Zoom meeting, click AI Companion and then select Start summary. When the meeting concludes, Zoom will prepare the meeting summary and send you an email once it is ready. By default, this meeting summary is only shared with you, not with meeting attendees, and it is automatically deleted after 365 days.
AI Companion: Ask meeting questions
To ask Zoom questions related to the meeting during a Zoom meeting, click AI Companion and then select Ask meeting questions. This feature is more useful once the meeting has been underway for some time and Zoom has sufficient content from the transcript of the meeting. Some examples from Zoom of questions you can ask AI Companion include:
- Was my name mentioned?
- What are the action items?
- What topics were discussed?
Questions that you ask AI Companion can only be seen by you and not by other meeting attendees.
AI Companion: Smart recording
To enable or disable smart recording, sign into https://usc.zoom.us, go to Settings, and click the AI Companion tab. This tool expands upon Zoom's basic recording functionality with additional features:
- Recording highlights
- Smart chapters
- Next steps
- Meeting coach
All of these features are AI-generated, so there may be errors, but you can edit recording highlights and smart chapters. Meeting coach is only visible to you, not to anyone else you share the recording with.
