Overview
You can personalize a newsletter in Emma so that, for example, emails greet individual recipients by name ("Dear Tommy Trojan" instead of a more generic "Dear subscriber").
Keep in mind that personalization tags are only as accurate as the information in your contact list. For example, if a contact left the "First Name" contact field blank or used an invented name, the personalized email to them will reflect that information. For this reason, we recommend reviewing your contact information to ensure that data is clean and accurate.
Adding personalization to a content block
You can add personalization tags to the following content block types:
- Paragraph
- Title
- List
- Button
Quick guide
- In the campaign editor, select the generic text you want to replace. Then, click Personalize in the formatting toolbar.
- Under Select personalization, select a contact field.
- The available fields reflect the information you collect from contacts. For example, you will only be able to personalize by first name if you asked contacts to provide their first name in your newsletter signup form.
- Can't find a field you recently created? Be aware that it may take up to 24 hours for a newly created field to appear as an option.
- You can optionally fill in Set a default value as a backup, in case a contact did not fill out the field when they signed up.
- Click Add field.
- The tag appears in your newsletter as bracketed text.
