The Dornsife Wiki server will be retiring when its license expires on July 28, 2021. We encourage you to begin downloading files from the Dornsife Wiki that you want to retain, and to migrate to one of the following USC-supported services:
Slack
Slack is a chat interface with file upload features, and is recommended by ITS for group communication. Within Dornsife, you can create a private channel for your Wiki group in the Dornsife Slack workspace.
Microsoft SharePoint
SharePoint Sites are similar to the Dornsife Wiki, as they can be used to create secure, internal team and communication websites. You can learn more on ITS’s SharePoint Sites page or create a SharePoint Site for your Wiki group. You can also view our guide, "Using a Microsoft SharePoint shared library." SharePoint files are stored in OneDrive.
Google Drive
Google shared Drives can provide a central location for file upload and sharing for your Wiki group. You can learn more on ITS’s Google Shared Drives page or create a shared Drive for your Wiki group.
Microsoft Teams
Teams is similar to Slack in terms of offering a chat interface and file sharing features. While Teams is not as well-supported by ITS as Slack is, you can download and try out Teams using your USC Office 365 license.
Note: If you are working with restricted data, please refer to ITS’s Storage at USC page to ensure that the service you switch to is compliant with USC policy.
We welcome you to contact us well in advance of July 28, 2021 if you need assistance with this transition: simply email dtsweb@dornsife.usc.edu.
Some tips for exporting Dornsife Wiki spaces
You can export an entire Wiki space in XML, HTML, or PDF format:
- Go to Space Tools (bottom left corner of the page).
- Click on Content Tools.
- Click on Export and select your preferred format:
-
HTML: Downloads a .zip folder of all html pages (that were created with the Confluence page editor) within the space as well as any attachments (e.g. Word, Text, or PDF files) uploaded to the space
-
XML: Downloads a .zip folder of all attachments and creates a single XML file and properties file for migrating/importing to another XML-capable system
-
PDF: Downloads the entire space as one large PDF file, including a table of contents
