Logging into your new Android device
Welcome to your new Android device! This device is the property of USC and is assigned to you for the duration of your employment, to be used exclusively for University purposes related to research, teaching, and professional pursuits.
The first time that you turn on your new device, you will be prompted to go through a few setup steps before you can log in:
- Tap on Start.
- Review the legal items and tap on I have read and agree to all of the above. Tap on Next.
- Select a Wi-Fi network. If prompted, input your Wi-Fi credentials. (Using USC Secure Wireless? Your identity is your USC NetID and your password is your USC NetID passphrase)
- Tap on Next.
- Wait for the "This device belongs to your organization" screen to display. Tap on Next.

- Tap on Accept & continue.
- Tap on Next.
- Tap on Accept & continue.
- The Microsoft Sign in page displays:
Do NOT use your @usc.edu login. Instead, type your login as follows: uscnetid@dts.usc.edu
- Example: if your USC NetID is ttrojan, type in ttrojan@dts.usc.edu

- Tap on Next.
- Type your USC NetID passphrase. Tap on Sign in.
- The "Your work checklist" screen displays.

Follow the required screen prompts to complete device setup:

Set up a screen lock: You can select Pattern, PIN, Password, Face, or Fingerprints

Install work apps: This will install useful apps including Duo, Zoom, Slack, Microsoft apps, and Google Drive

Register your device:
- The Intune screen displays. Tap on SIGN IN.

- Make sure that the login address is correct (YourUSCNetID@dts.usc.edu). Type your USC NetID passphrase and tap on Sign in.

- Tap on Register.
- Tap on Next.
- Tap on Done.
- The Google Services page displays. You can deselect any options or leave them selected (default). Scroll down and tap on Accept.
- Tap on Done. The Home screen displays. You're all set!
Getting support for your new Android device

in the bottom right corner of this page).
Returning your Android device
This device is the property of USC. In using this device, you commit to responsibly caring for and maintaining it throughout your employment. Upon separation from the University, you commit to promptly returning this device in the same condition as it was received, except for normal wear and tear.
Returning your new device for exchange
Requests to return new IT equipment should be initiated as soon as possible. Please submit your request as a ticket to the DTS Help Desk. Return policies vary by vendor, but DTS will assist Dornsife departments and staff in assessing the options available if the return window has closed.
Returning your old device
Recycling (e-waste)

Repurposing
Please submit your request as a ticket to the DTS Help Desk, specifying whether you are returning the device to be repurposed by another member within your department or for use by other departments.
