Overview

If you are using a Video Listing page in WordPress, you will need to set up each individual video as a video post using the guide below.
Video posts vs. video components
If you are trying to add videos to a regular content page (not a Video Listing page), you will need to use a component instead of the video posts we describe below. Refer to the following video component resource:
Requirements and appearance
Requirements
For each video you want to add, you will need:
- A publicly viewable link to the video: We recommend Vimeo or YouTube
- A thumbnail (still image) of the video
- Aspect ratio: 16:9
- Recommended dimensions: 1920 x 1080 px
- If your video is on Vimeo or YouTube, you can choose and download a thumbnail from the respective website
Appearance
The video thumbnail will appear on the Video Listing page as part of a grid of video thumbnails. Clicking the thumbnail opens a full-screen lightbox. The video loads from the public link, and the site visitor can play the video and use the video controls at the lower edge.

Creating a video post
To create a video post, you can watch the video or follow the written steps below:
Quick guide
- In the left menu, click Videos and select Add Post.
- Fill out the Add Title and Video URL fields. Vimeo or YouTube links are recommended for the URL. You can optionally add a Description.
- In the right sidebar, complete the following fields:
-
Video Categories: You can set one or more categories. This field is necessary for two reasons: (1) the Video Listing page's database mode relies on categories, and (2) website visitors can use categories to filter and narrow down a long list of videos.
- Click Set featured image, and then upload or select the video thumbnail. An image of 1920 x 1080 px, or an aspect ratio of 16:9, is recommended, but you can also upload other sizes if you do not mind that WordPress will automatically crop the image to fit.
- Click Publish.
- Videos are intended to appear on a Video Listing page and not on their own, so clicking Preview will not accurately show how website visitors will see the video.
